Just ask Elliot

April 6th, 2007

I have lots of baby books and know lots of parents, both new and experienced, but I must say the best answers have come from Elliot himself. He is such a smart baby! He tells us everything we need to know – when he’s hungry, when he’s messy, when he wants to be walked around, the fact he isn’t ready to sleep in his crib yet…He makes us feel really smart! While we aren’t on a schedule, we definitely have the beginnings of a routine established. Elliot is doing very well with breastfeeding and likes to check to see if whomever is holding him has boobs – just in case! Since the crib is a little big for him, he is currently sleeping in his car seat, which we placed in the crib. This way he can stay inclined and be in a cozier space. The past few nights have been very peaceful since we figured this one out. Elliot is sleeping 3-4 hours at a time at night and taking shorter naps during the day so hopefully this means he has his days and nights straight. Of course, that could change next week. He likes his swing and loves to snuggle on our chests after he eats. He had his second bath tonight and it went much better than the first one. He did not cry once! Elliot is so easy-going and doesn’t fuss at much – even when Marley barks at air. The first 2 weeks have been challenging at times but overall much easier than I thought it would be. We actually knew what to do with Elliot when we brought him home! Oh, and he burps just like his Daddy.
